Preteen Icon Used to Punish Cops.

Could you imagine this working in the United States…

It seems that Thai police officers who break rules will be forced to wear hot pink armbands featuring "Hello Kitty," the Japanese icon of cute, as a mark of shame, a senior officer said Monday.

The “Hello, Kitty” punishment is for relatively minor offenses such as tardiness and littering but the effect seems to be effective.

Police Col. Pongpat Chayaphan said that, "(Hello) Kitty is a cute icon for young girls. It's not something macho police officers want covering their biceps.”

The officers still face any charges that are applicable under the law as well.
